Has There Just Been a Coup?

A general takes over as chief of staff and immediately reacts by firing a guy who we know is Trump's alter ego, without a word of complaint from Trump.

In the last couple of days we have seen Trump order the military around without authority in the LGBT matter, come within inches of starting a war with North Korea. drastically damage our standing in the world, risking further conflicts in which the military would pay the price, and license the police to effectively start a war of terror against our own people.

Maybe that was a little bit too far for the military.  Did Trump really appoint Kelly to his new post, or was it forced on a man who has now been revealed as a weak, sniveling President who knows nothing except how to make threats?

Probably not, and if it is true, we may never see behind the curtain, with a suddenly controlled Trump still sitting in the Oval Office, pretending to make decisions, but with everything signed off on by the military, which would just wait things out until 2020, when a more rational seeming tyrant could be elected.

Anyway, there's a good Tom Clancy book in there somewhere.  Too bad it's reached the point in our country that it could be more than a book.

The End of Green Eagle?

I started following not just the far right, but fringe religious and scientific beliefs too, in the late 1960's.  At first it was an amusement to follow the likes of the National States Rights Party, or Scientology or General Semantics, or lunatic Evangelical religious groups.  But around the time of the Reagan administration, I began to see that these perverted people just refused to give up their malign idiocy, and they were starting to attract funding from rich sociopaths that believed they could personally benefit from encouraging the public to detach its political views from rational thinking.

At that time I began believing that what was happening, if it remained unchecked, could result in such a right wing surge in the United States that we could find ourselves facing a fascist takeover that could sweep away everything we thought was unalterable about our country.  Well, with a couple of exceptions, no one believed me.  I even had an acquaintance who is a psychiatrist, who started out thinking I was a paranoid schizophrenic, who a few years later admitted that everything I had said had proven to be true.

Time went on, and the rational people who should have taken it upon themselves to take a stand against this ever-growing American love affair with hatred and violence, just averted their gaze.

Ten years ago, I began my blog, in an attempt to document this storm which was overtaking our country.  As time went on, I found a few people who could see what was so clear to me, but basically the vast majority just ignored what was happening.

I spent those years documenting this savage outpouring of irrational dementia, as it grew worse and worse.  That was the task I assigned myself, and I kept at it for just about 5,000 posts.  In my Wingnut Wrapup articles alone, I documented about 10,000 specimens of right wing malice and mental disturbance.

Well, there is little left for me to do today, in a country where the aberrations that I have written about do not need to be memorialized in a blog; they can be heard every day coming from our President and his party.  It's there for everyone to see now; they don't need me to point it out to them.

I just do not believe Green Eagle has much of a function any more.  I will probably write a little when I feel like it, but I think that it is pretty much time to pull the plug on this blog, and just hunker down and wait out the storm, if I live that long.

Thanks for reading my posts over the years.  I hope we may all live to see better times, but I just don't have any faith in that happening.

How to Treat Criminal Suspects; the Official Version

Donald Trump, speaking to police today:

"When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in. Rough. I said, please don’t be too nice. Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head. You know, the way you put their hand over their head, like don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody. I said you could take the hand away, OK.”

This is one more of at least a hundred legitimate grounds for impeachment of this grotesque excuse for a human being, and not one of the lesser ones, as behavior like this, licensed by the state, is one of the surest paths to fascism that anyone could imagine.

And when the country finally comes to its sense and drags this hateful man out of the White House, I only ask one thing: Do it rough.  Please don't be too nice.  It's the way he wants our country to treat criminal suspects.

A New Low at the White House

I'm sure the kind of people who see my blog have already heard enough of the interview that White House "Communications Director" Anthony Scaramucci gave the other day to the New Yorker.  So I won't belabor its contents.  I just want to say that the fact that this guy was not fired within an hour of the interview's becoming public is a perfect illustration of why it is hopeless to have any relationship with Donald Trump and his administration besides kicking him the hell out of his office and trying to somehow begin to repair the devastation that he has already generated in our country.  The fact that Trump appears to be fine with people talking like this on his behalf should be enough, all by itself, to show that he has no business anywhere near the Federal government, other than as the occupant of one of its prison cells.

It's Always the Guys

Two headlines from the Washington Post, about last night's Republican healthcare defeat:

"The night John McCain killed the GOP’s health-care fight"

"How a ham-handed phone call to Sen. Murkowski backfired"

See, the guy killed it, but the phone call to Senator Murkowski, a woman, was also a failure of the guy who made the call, not the result of Murkowski's long efforts against this bill.

Dames- they just can't really do anything on their own, right?

Scum of the Century Nominee

John McCain.

Plenty of money that he got through dumping his first wife and marrying a rich beer heiress, so he can pay anything for his own medical care, but he does not give a God damn about the health of anyone else.

The "maverick" has spent a decade now talking a good game and then voting along with the most corrupt people in the country on every issue, so we have no reason to believe that he would not get up off his sickbed for nothing but to stick a dagger in the backs of tens of millions of his fellow Americans.  And here he is again, betraying the American people, even though at this point in his life it cannot mean a damned thing to him.

He is today's poster child for the utter evil that is all that the Republican party is about.  There is not a shred of decency or humanity in a single one of them, and they are now well on an almost irreversible path to destroying the United States.  And behind all their bullshit patriotic talk, they know this perfectly well, but they just don't give a damn.

We hear plenty of (perfectly justified) talk these days about how Donald Trump does not care a bit about anyone but himself.  We need to remember that every other Republican is exactly the same. They may not be so stupid that they can't keep their mouths shut about it, but they are all the same corrupt, criminal, satanic people that Trump is.

And too bad the gutless Democratic party, with very few exceptions, has spent the time, at least since Reagan, cowering in the corner and refusing to say out loud what is going on in this country.

I now believe that it is overwhelmingly likely that the United States is going to cease to exist, within the lifetimes of many people alive today, devolving into two successful industrial democracies, one on the West Coast, and one in the Northeast, separated by a vast swathe of territory, sparsely inhabited after vicious sectarian wars, and governed by a whole host of Taliban-like warlords or Christian ISIS-style Caliphates .  The only sad thing about this is that the two surviving modern states are going to have to spend vast sums to maintain armies to repel the endless attacks by the crazed people in the center of the country; something which they will easily be able to do, given the incompetence at governing demonstrated by American right wingers, but only at the cost of a good part of the wealth that could otherwise be dedicated to building better societies.

Anyway, John McCain, my only wish to you is that your wealth keeps you from dying until you have had a chance to spend a couple of years in screaming agony, as some sort of just recompense for the tens of thousands of people that you are sentencing to die of cancer while you have nothing but the finest care.

Consciousness of Guilt

When the President's response to an investigation is:

1. To prepare alleged grounds for dismissing or at least organizing a campaign to discredit the special prosecutor

2.  To begin an analysis of exactly under what circumstances he can pardon his family and himself

we can pretty much abandon any pretense that the guy is not guilty.  These are the acts of criminals, not honest people.  Let's not have any dissembling about this any more.  The guy is guilty. The only question, and it is a big one, is where are we going to find a few honest Republicans who are willing to do the right thing and throw his ass in jail.  Sad to say, counting on that is a bad bet.

My guess? If he can't get away with firing Mueller, he has two fallback positions.  The lesser one, which I expect he will try first, is to have Jeff Sessions indict Hillary Clinton on some of the bogus, lying smears the Republicans have directed against her for years.  The uproar that would cause could easily blot out all other news for months, like the OJ trial or the Benghazi hatefest.  If the whole issue of Trump's treason had not died out by then, the next step would be a war against some hapless small country, possibly North Korea, or if Trump has the least rationality left, against someone totally helpless, like Ronald Reagan's targets of Nicaragua and Grenada.

Living in interesting times...not really that much fun after all.

Update:  From a Trump tweet on 7-24:

"So why aren't the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?"

A persecution of Hillary to distract from Trump's treason is definitely something they are considering.

Trump Talks City Planning

I won't bother to demolish Donald Trump's insane account of both Napoleon's and Hitler's invasion of Russia, from yesterday's interview; there are plenty of people handling that.  I will, as an architect, comment on his account of Napoleon's work in the city of Paris:

"What he did was incredible. He designed Paris.” [garbled] The street grid, the way they work, you know, the spokes."

Donald, that was done by Baron Haussmann, who was commissioned by Napoleon III, who was the nephew of the Napoleon you are talking about.
One of Haussmann's boulevards in Paris

Why don't you keep your damned mouth shut about things that you know nothing about?  Of course, that would pretty well stop you from talking about anything, wouldn't it?  Hey, not a bad idea, really.

Please, John

I don't want to minimize the serious situation in which John McCain finds himself.  I've had people close to me die of cancer, and I know what that is like.  But I will tell you what I am thinking about this:  John McCain is a man who married a woman worth hundreds of millions of dollars (after dumping his first wife,) and who consequently has not a shred of worry about how to pay for his own care, nor does he have to make decisions about paying for his own treatment at the price of leaving his family destitute.

Please, John, take a little bit of time to put yourself outside of your own privileged situation, and think about all of the people in this country who have to face what you are facing, without a huge stash of money to pay for it.  Go back to the Senate and demand that this abomination be eliminated.  We now know, from the behavior of your fellow Republicans, that there is no way to guarantee this except by a single payer system, minimally just extending Medicare to everyone.  Spend what time you have left using your power to get that done, and you will go down in history alongside Franklin Delano Roosevelt, not Trump and McConnell and the other members of your party who will promote any evil if it benefits their backers.

Do the right thing, and die proud, John.  Think about it.

Bullying

Trump gave an unusually lunatic interview yesterday to the New York Times.  I don't want to deal very much with the substance of his comments (there really wasn't much,) but I do want to talk about what he is up to; something which continues to go unnoticed by almost everybody.

Trump's behavior, since his childhood, has revolved around bullying other people to get what he wants, which is a sense that he is not a degraded person.  The way this sick person convinces himself of his superiority is to force other, presumably inferior, people to do what he wants.  Now, he can't just beat on people any more, so he satisfies this sick need by making others go along with things he claims which they, he and everyone else know to be false.  When you understand this, you realize that the detachment of his claims from reality is not a defect but a feature.  This is because the whole point of his talk is not to seek the truth or push an ideology, but totally to humiliate those around him by forcing them to do what he wants even though it makes no sense.  So, when, for example, Daily Kos provides the following comment about the Times interview:

"That reporters Peter Baker, Michael S. Schmidt and Maggie Haberman managed to keep their jaws off the floor of the Oval Office given the deluge of cray-cray and crapola Trump spewed is a testament to their professional skills."

they are in fact missing the whole point of Trump's behavior.  In fact, by doing this, these reporters are not showing class, but joining the host of people who have collapsed in the face of Trump's bullying, thereby reinforcing his sense that it works, and pushing the country one step closer to chaos.  They would only show some class by walking out on him, and stating in their newspaper that he is a pathetic, ignorant man who has been a total, weak, failure as President.  Of course, since mainstream journalism in the United States seems to have been totally detached from any notion of reporting the truth, that is not going to happen, and so the bully has one more day of having his abominable behavior rewarded instead of crushed.

Fukushima...

Lest we forget, a little news about the situation in Fukushima, from Newsweek, via Yahoo:

"While much progress has been made to clean the area, the company has only just resolved the debate over what to do with the water that was used to cool the plant's damaged reactors, causing it to become tainted with tritium."

What to do...what to do...  Oh wait, I have an idea:

"Takashi Kawamura, chairman of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), told foreign media that nearly 777,000 tons of water tainted with tritium, a byproduct of the nuclear process that is notoriously difficult to filter out of water, will be dumped into the Pacific Ocean"

Yeah, just dump it into the ocean.  That'll take care of the problem.

Nuclear energy-the power of the future.  If there is one.

The Key To Getting Trump Impeached

You want to get Donald Trump and Mike Pence impeached?  Here is my surefire solution:  The Democrats need to mount a massively funded, furious campaign against Paul Ryan, using the Republicans' own tactics to portray him as the miserable moral monster that he is.  The minute that Ryan gets really afraid that he is going to lose his seat, the impeachment will begin immediately.

Bad Memory

I have to admit that it is strange that so many people are willing to listen to the Don Trump-Kushner account of their meeting with the lady Russian lawyer, discover that their story that it was all about saving the orphans (the most insipid lie I have ever heard) was false, and are willing to remember that this meeting was lied about and kept secret for months, and then as a final indignity, discover that they forgot to mention that there was an "ex" Russian intelligence officer also at the meeting, and still give the entire Trump administration one second of credibility.

Come on...this one episode has more wrongdoing than a thousand Benghazis.  But it's okay with a party that has adopted treason as their standard operating procedure.  I mean really, they forgot that there was a Russian spy in the meeting?

Life in prison for all of them, the "President" included.

Suicide

So, today's little piece of the Trump-Putin puzzle:

"A GOP donor and opposition researcher who said he tried to work with Russian hackers to retrieve deleted emails from a private server used by Hillary Clinton, has died in a suicide, according to public records cited in a Chicago Tribune report."

Suicide.  Of course it was.  Because any other explanation would be more the sort of thing that, say, Vladimir Putin goes in for, than something Trump would get up to.

Yet, already.  Or maybe not.  We report, you decide.

Guest of Honor

I understand that Donald Trump was the guest of honor at a Bastille day celebration while he was in France.  I was so disappointed to discover that he wasn't this kind of guest of honor:
I mean, come on, French guys, you had your chance.

Treason Is Okay

If you are a Republican.

Here's an excerpt from a Washington Post article from last December, in case you have forgotten about this:

"The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter...The Democratic leaders in the room unanimously agreed on the need to take the threat seriously. Republicans, however, were divided, with at least two GOP lawmakers reluctant to accede to the White House requests.

According to several officials, McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics."

You see, it's okay for a Republican to collaborate with our foreign enemies, as long as it's okay with other Republicans too; and as long as it's all in the service of getting tax cuts for rich people and screwing everyone else, it always is okay.

The problem with obsessing about Trump's treason and criminality is that it allows people to ignore the fact that every Republican on earth is just as corrupt and traitorous as Trump.  We have allowed a monster to grow in our country, and I don't see how we kill it at this point.

Wingnut Wrapup- The Flood Continues

Whoo, back already.  They seem to need to be really shouting out their idiocies today.  I wonder why they're so active?

Ben Shapiro, Town Hall:  "What If There's No Trump-Putin Conspiracy?"

Yeah, and while we are on the subject, what if the moon doesn't exist?  What if Smurfs are real?  What if monkeys really can play the electric guitar?  Ben explains himself:

"Trump issued a series of tweets implying that he created a relationship of trust with Russian President Vladimir Putin... this looks rather suspicious, unless it turns out that pretty much every Trumpian scandal can be explained through a combination of Trump's ego and the incompetence of those around him."

See, even if he does go out on fifth avenue and start shooting people, he isn't guilty because he's just an incompetent egomaniac.  That explains everything, and makes it okay.  See, Trump could open our borders to an invading Russian horde and it would all be fine, because he's just incompetent.  Absolutely what we need in the White House.  Well, that's their story, and they are sticking to it.

So, time for the stupid right wing cartoon of the day:

What is that even supposed to mean?  That it is unacceptable for Democrats to look at the actions of the Trump administration?  That Donald Trump Jr. is just doing "opposition research" when he collaborates with the Russians to undercut the security of our elections?  That treason and reporting the truth are the same thing, as long as it's Republicans committing the treason?  Oh well, I guess we'll never know.

John Stossel, Town Hall:  "Stupid Hostile Media"

Well, just spit it right out there, John.  John continues:

"New York Times writers are so upset by Trump's rants against them that they act like he's a Venezuelan dictator who will shut them down. (Wait, don't Times socialists like Venezuelan dictators?)"

No, New York Times writers are upset by Trump acting like a Venezuelan dictator, or to be more accurate, a Russian dictator, something which is just fine with people like John, i.e. Republicans. And let's not move on before noticing John slipping in the preposterous lie that the people at the Times are socialists who love left wing dictators.

Brent Bozell, Town Hall:  "Remember Bill Clinton's Asiagate Scandal?"

No.

Jonah Goldberg, Town Hall:  "Charlie Gard's Fate Shouldn't Be Decided By the State"

Charlie Gard is the British baby that is so badly brain damaged that the English government does not want to pay millions to keep him alive for a few more months.  Notice that Jonah, like all right wingers, does not give a damn about the thousands of children who are going to die every year because our State, in the form of the Republican Congress, is deciding that they are just too expensive to keep alive, at least if rich people are going to get their tax cuts.

Bob Barr, Town Hall:  "Welcome to the Post-Factual World"

No welcome needed for readers of Wingnut Wrapup.  We've been visiting for years.

Brad Slager, Red State:  "Black Lives Matter Opposes Planet of the Apes"

Hang in there, Brad- you've got a real winner of an issue this time.

Loren Heal, Red State:  "Donald Trump Jr Met With The Russians And Oops I Just Yawned"

Nothing to see here, folks.  Just move on:

"It’s not that I don’t care about foreign influence on our elections. I do. It’s that I don’t believe there was any substantive effect on our election by Russia."

And I'm not going to believe it, either, no matter what happens, because I get paid not to believe it.

"Suppose, for the sake of argument, that the worst imaginings of anti-Trump Democrats and their Russia Narrative are all true:

Suppose that President Trump is a Russian spy...Suppose that the Russians hacked the election...What all of that would mean, collectively, is that Democrats, with the news organizations of the Associated Press, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and even ESPN carrying their water were bested by a foreign propaganda mill feeding stories to Facebook."

See, even if Trump committed the worst act of treason in the history of the United States, it would still be the fault of the Democrats and the news media.  Glad we got that straightened out.

Jim Jamitis, Red State:  "Am I The Only One Who Is Losing Faith In…Well…Everything?"

Everything, of course, except the allegation that the Republican party has nothing but the good of the nation at heart, and that the Democrats are vicious traitors.  No, Jim still believes that. It's always so inspiring to see someone sticking by their values.

"I’m inspired by Andrew Breitbart’s  book Righteous Indignation where he calls for tearing down the “Democrat-Media Complex.”

Oh, and he still has faith in Breitbart.  Glad to hear that.

Bridget Johnson, PJ Media:  "Ryan on Don Jr.'s Russia Meeting: Let Mueller Do His Job"

Translation into English:  We Congressional Republicans are just going to ignore the whole thing while we try to pass tax cuts for rich people.  If Muller comes up with anything, Trump can just fire him, and that will be that.

Debra Heine, Red State:  "Don Jr.'s Emails Show Poor Judgment — Not Evidence of Treason"

And hey, since when is a Republican disqualified from his office because of poor judgment?

Rick Moran, PJ Media:  "Donald Trump, Jr. Is the Dumbest Traitor in World History -- Or Not"

Hold your judgment on that one, Rick.  There's still a long time to go in this scandal.  Rick's explanation:

"Is he really that stupid? And are the Russians really so cruel that they would have approached one of the nominee's chief campaign advisers directly, with no buffer, no cutout, not even a scapegoat to protect such an important asset? What kind of a black op were the Russians running here?  None of this tracks."

Is a guy named Trump really stupid?  Are Russians really cruel?  Hey, who could believe that?  Now, time to get back to Hillary's e-mails, don't you think?

Charlie Martin, PJ Media:  "Where Do Japanese Babies Come From?"

Don't worry about that, Charlie.  We'll explain it to you when you are old enough.

Joshua Caplan, Gateway Pundit:  "Sign From Jesus? Technical Malfunction Occurs As Reporter Asks Pelosi If She’s ‘Holy’

Sign from Jesus?  Man, it sounds like Jesus is watching as much TV as Trump, if he caught that one.

John Solomon, The Hill:  "Comey’s private memos on Trump conversations contained classified material"

Catch that part about "private memos?"  Now, apparently, it is against the law for the head of the FBI to write down what happened at a meeting he attended, even if he kept it private.  I guess the head of the FBI does not have a security clearance, so even telling himself something is a crime.

Elizabeth Nahas, American Thinker:  "As much as I am grateful for my evolution toward truth, the Left’s sound bites have increased exponentially. Consequently, many of us on the Right remain in the underground for fear of retribution. With a Republican President and Congress, why does this continue? The answer is simple: The Right’s image and messaging continues to be abysmal..."

Elizabeth, you forgot to note that the right's image is abysmal because the right is made up entirely of abysmal people.  Try stopping being disgusting human beings, and in a while, your image will improve, I promise you.  Give it a try and get back to me in a decade or two.

Jack Hellner, American Thinker:  "What counts as treason differs depending on the letter after your name"

You've got that right, Jack.  If you are a Republican, selling your country to a foreign dictator is not treason, while if you are a Democrat, well, treason consists in anything you do, really.  That's pretty much Jack's point, so we'll leave it at that.

Chuck Ross, Daily Caller:  "Maine Democratic Rep Makes Physical Threat Against 'Pu**y' Trump"

Huh?  Purry Trump?  Putty Trump?  I don't get it.  Oh well, no sense thinking about this too much.

Eric Owens, Daily Caller:  "Struggling College Splurges On $306 MILLION DORM"

I wonder if this story is because the "struggling college" is identified in the first sentence of this story as historically black?  How dare THEY spend money on a dorm?

"For perspective, the $306 million cost of the dorm is a few million more than the entire annual gross-domestic product of the island nation of Palau."

Whoo, that really is a lot!  Here is the picture that was run with this story:

Although the fact is never mentioned in the story, this is obviously not a new dormitory, but a palace somewhere in Europe.  The actual cost of the dorm, as reported by the college, is $7 million, in case you are so old fashioned as to care about the truth.  But I mean, if police are allowed to kill black people whenever they feel like it, why shouldn't Republicans be allowed to lie about them whenever they want?

Amber Athey, Daily Caller:  "Sen. Kennedy Has Wildly Unrealistic Expectations For The New FBI Director"

He wants him to be honest, and serious about pursuing crime.  I'll give Amber this: with Republicans in charge of confirming him, that is wildly unrealistic.

David Hookstead, Daily Caller:  "Here Is Video Proof Kim Kardashian Is An Idiot"

Well, glad you guys are breaking new ground in serious investigative journalism.

Amber Athey, Daily Caller:  "Trump Jr. Admits He 'Would Have Done Things A Little Differently' With Russian Lawyer Meeting"

Yeah, if he had known that he was going to get caught.

Michael Bastach, Daily Caller:  "Delaware-Sized Iceberg Breaks Free From Antarctica, But Don't Blame Global Warming"

No, don't do that!  Blame Obama.

Rich Lowry, Newsmax:  "China Not Poised to Assume Global Leadership"

Well, too bad, Rich, because your guy Trump is handing it to them on a golden platter.

Neil Urwitz, Newsmax:  "A Focused Trump Could Help His Press Secretaries Succeed"

You mean like if he focused on not sending them out to tell lies for him?  Don't hold your breath for that one, buddy.

And, God, enough, already.  Wingnuts have so much to shout down these days that I expect this garbage is going to be flowing like Niagara Falls for a while.

Wingnut Wrapup- Special "There goes Trumpie" Edition

So you can predict what the Republicans are going to try to do to dodge having to deal with the monster they backed, but let's just see how many whiny excuses they have gotten up to in the last 24 hours, starting at the top:

Senator and Republican Elder Statesman Orrin Hatch:  "...all this stuff about Trump's sons and daughter -- it's a bunch of bunk..I don't think this is relevant to the Trump administration."

Bunk.  Bunk, I tell you. But how about going to an even higher authority?  And I'm not talking Hebrew National hot dogs here:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "President Trump Defends Don Jr. Amid Email Scandal: My Son is a High Quality Person"

Maybe compared to yourself, Donald.

After that, we really don't need to hear from the run of the mill right wing assholes, but Green Eagle is going to plow on anyway:

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Dems Insist Congress Must Investigate Trump Jr."

Only Dems, apparently.  Only Dems are concerned about treason or corruption.  Republicans, on the other hand?  Their chief issue is fantasy misuse of a pizza parlor.
Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Grassley Confirms: Yes, Comey's Memos He Shared With The Media Are Classified"

In Mordor, perhaps.  Not in this country, but they are so desperate for a distraction by this point, that any lie will do.

Lauretta Brown, Town Hall:  "Hillary Clinton Models ‘Nasty Woman’ Shirt to Raise Funds for Planned Parenthood"

Well, there you go, the Democratic equivalent of high treason.  Listen, the direction things are going, there is only one distraction left, short of starting a war with North Korea: throwing Hillary in prison and holding show trials.  So don't be surprised if it comes to that.  And how about another issue that is far more important than having a traitor in the White House:

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "NYT Columnist Slammed For Condescending Take On Italian Deli Meat"

God, it's beyond jokes.  And now, all you need to know about things:

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "The Difference Between Trump and Obama"

This somehow centers around the fact that Trump once picked up someone's hat that had blown off, and Obama (who was not there at the time, of course) didn't.  No mention of the difference involved in the fact that Trump is a traitor and Obama isn't.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  " Is This the "Smoking Gun" the Collusion Chorus Has Been Waiting For?  If this email exists and is authentic, it may -- repeat, may -- represent the first evidence of collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign"

Sorry, Guy, this is about the fiftieth "smoking gun" in this story.  But don't worry; a couple of days and you will get your groove back and be going around telling everyone that it all means nothing.

Hey wait, it didn't take that long.  Guy is recovering by the end of his column:

"By the way, even if additional evidence emerges that this amounted to collusion, sordid and craven conduct isn't necessarily a crime."

Because we all know that "sordid and craven conduct" isn't enough to oppose the guy in the White House.  That's just standard operating practice for a Republican.  I mean, remember when he said he could shoot someone on fifth avenue and it wouldn't make a difference to his followers?  Well, mark that statement down, because it's the last known occasion on which Trump told the truth about anything.

Kimberley Ross, Red State:  "CRUZ: We Need to Work on Obamacare Repeal Instead of Take August Recess"

Sure, sure.  He's just afraid to show up at any town halls.

Charlie Martin, PJ Media:  "And They Claim TRUMP Is Collaborating With Russia?  The Washington Post and others are leaking material that is damaging the United States. Why isn't anyone mad about it?"

See, Trump committing abominable offenses is just fine.  Reporting that fact is "leaking."  Hint, Charlie:  When the press prints things, they are not "leaking."  They are "reporting."  A crime to you, I know, but actually something with a relatively long and honorable history in our country.

Charlie Martin, PJ Media:  "So what's the over/under for the first story saying Trump Jr. committed a crime by releasing the emails the New York Times was about to leak?"

Charlie, in the first place, that's like saying that you didn't murder someone because another person was about to murder them tomorrow.  In any event, dumbass, it's not releasing the e-mails is not the crime: it's the treason revealed by the e-mails.

And just to sum it all up:

PJ Media:  "Now Pundits Are Saying Don Jr. Russia Meeting Is 'Treason'?!?"

Yup.  That's pretty much the story.  Got a problem with that?

Tyler O'Neal, PJ Media:  "Politico Attacks Rubio for Tweeting Proverbs, the 'Most Republican Part of the Bible'

Hey, to my mind, the most Republican part of the Bible is Genesis 19, where Lot has sex with his own daughters.  It's just like living in Alabama.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "BOOM! Donald Trump Jr. Beats #FakeNews and Releases Entire Email Chain on Meeting Russian Lawyer"

He beats "fake news" by proving that they were absolutely right.  More evidence of why they call Jim the Stupidest Man On The Internet.  But Jim is not done being Stupid!

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "HILLARY COLLUSION: Campaign Set Up “Private, Off the Record” Meeting with Chinese Ambassador"

Jim forgot to mention that Hillary did not "collude" with the Chinese ambassador- the Chinese ambassador asked for the meeting, which Hillary did not attend.  Little different from Trump, huh, Jim?  No?  I didn't think you'd be able to grasp subtle reasoning like that.

Cristina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "Hannity Goes Off on Team Hillary’s Collusion With Ukrainian Govt Officials: “Where’s the Outrage?” As TGP previously reported, Hillary Clinton’s aides met with Ukrainian government officials and journalists specifically to dig up dirt on team Trump."

See, Hillary "collaborated" with a country, the Ukraine, to publicize the fact that it had been invaded by a vicious foreign dictator who was allied with Trump.  That's sort of like the horrible time when FDR collaborated with France by letting people know that they had been invaded by Germany.  A vicious crime exactly the same as Trump's colluding with the aforementioned foreign dictator to rig our Presidential election.

Chip McLean, Renew America:  "Nancy-boy CNN now blackmailing private citizens over insults"

Nancy-boy.  Well, let's just lash out there.   And notice that identifying disgusting human beings in public is now blackmail.

Bob Unruh, World Net Daily:  "TRUMP JR. EMAIL SAGA IS 'ABSOLUTE GARBAGE CR-P'...'It's got all the ingredients of a story except fact'

Well, except the fact that they came right from the guy involved, Trump's son, who has never been known to make one step without permission from his daddy, except maybe to go off and kill some endangered animals.  But listen, Trump minions:  there is NO FACT there!  None at all!  Just keep repeating that to yourselves.

Larry Tomczak, World Net Daily:  "SUMMER OF LOVE?  Harmless music festivals? Anything but"

Yeah, I know I promised that this Wingnut Wrapup would be about Trump's treason, but who could pass that one up?  I don't want to get sidetracked here, so I will make an exception:  if you want to read a compendium of real right wing lunacy, just click on the link, and rock on, dude.

Ian Hanchett, Breitbart:  "…CNN LOL: ‘THIS IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE TREASON’…"

LOL.  Treason.  LOL.  I guess that puts this issue in context, say compared to Hillary's child-rape pizza parlor.

Aaron Klein, Breitbart:  "…ANALYSIS: NYT, WAPO DROP RUSSIA CONSPIRACY STORIES FOR MAX IMPACT"

Because if there is a sin in journalism, it's not lying and smearing- Breitbart's specialties by the way- but rather trying to get maximum attention to their stories.

Well, that's what they've come up with today.  I expect some even more preposterous attempts to evade the obvious truth in the next couple of days, but they're off to a flying start. So, just let me leave you with this observation from Dan Rather:

"only a hypocrite, a cynic or a fool could argue that this development can be innocuously explained."

I Blame Obama

Fresh on the heels of Trump administration claims that they didn't have hotel rooms booked for the G20 summit because it was Barack Obama's job to make those reservations, way back when he was President, comes this even more unbelievable refusal to take responsibility for their own actions, regarding Donald Trump Junior's recently revealed attempt to collude with the Russians to attack Hillary:

"White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus has accused Democratic operatives of arranging a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Kremlin-linked lawyer last summer, two weeks after Donald Trump won the Republican nomination for president."

Yes, Democrats arranged a meeting to supply Republicans with dirt on their own candidate.  That's the story, right.

There is absolutely no depth of craven shamelessness that the Trump administration is unwilling to sink to, in its increasingly desperate attempts to shield the nation from the fact that Trump is a traitor. Man, those investigations must really have some explosive information if what is already known is enough to produce this level of panic.  A couple more puzzle pieces, and the whole thing is going to sink through the table and go right down to hell, like a meltdown in a nuclear reactor, dragging Trump and all his buddies with him, leaving nothing behind but enough radiation to make the Republican party poison for a thousand years, or until the Koch brothers cough up a few more billion in money to manufacture lies.  Sad to say, we all know which one of those is going to happen first.

Well, personally, I'm going back right now to listening to Albert King.  Might as well get something out of the morning.

Wingnut Wrapup

It's getting hard to continue with this, seeing as how we can get things just as lunatic and hateful from the White House these days.  Well, let's just get going with this contribution to our understanding of national affairs:

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "CNNBlackmail: Jeff Zucker Issued a Thinly Veiled Threat at Trump Before Inauguration"

See, it wasn't Trump threatening to blackmail journalists, it was the other way around!  And how did that work?

"(Jeff Zucker:) It doesn’t worry me that Donald Trump hasn’t done an interview with CNN in eight months. I think our credibility is higher than ever, and our viewership is higher than ever, and our reporting is as strong as ever. One of the things I think this administration hasn’t figured out yet is that there’s only one television network that is seen in Beijing, Moscow, Seoul, Tokyo, Pyongyang, Baghdad, Tehran, and Damascus — and that’s CNN. The perception of Donald Trump in capitals around the world is shaped, in many ways, by CNN. Continuing to have an adversarial relationship with that network is a mistake."

See, it is threatening Trump to say that you are going to go on reporting about him without his permission.  Because unless you are on his good side (i.e. if you only say what he wants you to) you are threatening him.

"There’s not even a semblance of objectivity here, and this is coming from the network’s president."

"Objectivity."  That means only reporting good stuff about him.  George Orwell, you died way too soon.  You missed all of the fun.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Patricia Heaton: CNN Has Lost All Credibility"

Let's just deal with this first:  In case you didn't know (I sure didn't) Patricia Heaton is an actress from a long gone sitcom.  The wingnuts are having to dig a little deep to find anyone to agree with them these days, I guess.  Now as to the substance of this remark:  As far as Green Eagle is concerned, CNN lost all credibility when it spent a year letting Chuck Todd and its whole stable of journalistic miscreants pretend that Donald Trump was in any way an acceptable candidate for President.  Now they are stuck with what they have created, and they are trying to convince us that they are really objective journalists.  Too late, jerks; you lost that on election day, when the candidate that you really supported won the electoral vote.  You could claim he is Satan incarnate at this point, and it wouldn't undo the damage you have done.

Ben Shapiro, Town Hall:  "Does Being Presidential Matter Anymore?"

Not if you're a Republican.  If you are a Democrat, of course, putting your feet on the desk is still enough to incite a two year freakout.

Remember this?  Well, things have changed.

"Trump is indeed something new. He doesn't even pretend to be presidential. Clinton failed at being presidential, but he still  wanted  to be seen as a serious human being; Obama tried to position himself as a serious thinker, even as he did his latest ESPN brackets. Trump has no such pretentions -- or if he does, his volatile id won't allow him to stick to them. He's open and obvious about his disdain for decency and protocol. He spends his days trolling Reddit and 4chan for the latest dank memes to post to his Twitter account, and then he waits with bated breath as his followers cheer themselves hoarse. So, does any of this matter?"

No, not really:

"The result: a race to the bottom. That race seems to be accelerating daily now. Again, that's not Trump's fault."

As long as a Republican is winning the race to the bottom, it's all great.  And by the way, Ben, when you have been the editor of the Harvard Law Review, you are not "positioning yourself" to be a serious thinker, you are one.  Just like the fact that you are a serious asshole.  Deal with it.

Lawrence Myers, Town Hall:  "Why They Hate Trump So Much"

No need to worry about this one.  Anyone who can't figure that out is too far gone to ever be reached by an appeal to facts.

Amelia Hamilton, Red State:  "The Obama Family Now Has An Official Tartan For Some Reason"

This seems to be an occasion demanding some outrage from the right this week.  Oh, well.

Streiff, Red State:  "Maxine Waters Predicts Disaster If GOP Health Care Bill Passes"

The stupidity.  Whereas 20 or 30,000 extra dead people a year is just collateral damage for Streiff, easily justified by the prospect of a brave new world of huge tax cuts for the Koch brothers.

And Streiff is not done with his stupidity today:

Streiff, Red State:  "Pyongyang’s Latest Missile Launch Moves Us Closer To A War With North Korea"

It sure does if an incompetent, belligerent bully like Trump is left in charge.  Of course, like most wingnuts, Streiff is all for war, particularly against a country he knows we can kick the crap out of. And as for the millions of South Koreans and Japanese that North Korea might kill before we reduce Pyongyang to a parking lot?  Hey, just take a good look at them- they are barely more worthy of our concern than the people of North Korea are, if you get what I am saying here.

Susan Wright, Red State:  "Mexican Artist Enlists Aid Of Illegal Immigrants In Building Wall In New York City “Art” Display"

Oh my God!  Illegal immigrants! And art! Two enemies of the new Republican America coming together to, well, to do something terrible.

Caleb Howe, Red State:  "Independence: This Fourth of July, Think About What it Means"

Not much, any more.  I can tell you that, for sure.

Charlie Martin, PJ Media:  "A Bunch of White Guys Got Together in Philadelphia and Guess What Happened?"

They invented the cheese steak?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "IT’S WORSE THAN REPORTED: CNN May Have Committed FEDERAL FELONY By Threatening Reddit User"

JIm Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "JULIAN ASSANGE: CNN Committed Crime – Violated § 135.60 on “Coercion” #CNNBlackmail"

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "US GOP Lawmaker Accuses CNN of COERCION and BLACKMAIL of Private US Citizen #CNNBlackmail"

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "AWFUL! CNN Extorts PRIVATE CITIZEN Over Trump CNN Joke Wrestling Video -Threatens to Dox Him!"

Yes, Jim Hoft once again proves why he is the Stupidest Man On The Internet, by publishing four stories in one day about the totally imaginary threat he has dreamed up, in which  CNN did something really horrible to the guy who made the video of Trump beating up the CNN guy.  Once again demonstrating why the Trump administration has recognized Hoft as a trusted news source.

Siena Hoefling, Renew America:  "Protect the Children...When Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reportedly used chemical weapons against his own people, U.S. President Donald Trump answered with punitive missiles. Assad violated previous agreements, said Trump, and the United States had a security interest "to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons."  But ultimately, Trump said, it was the cruel destruction of children that stirred him to act."

The millions of American children Trump wants to cut off of medical care?  Not so important, I guess.  Trump concluded his remarks by saying:

"as long as America stands for justice, then peace and harmony will in the end prevail."

Get ready for the bloodbath, I guess.

World Net Daily:  "NASA rover spots 'alien thigh bone' on Mars"

One more reason that WND, one of the most influential wingnut sites in existence, is such a force for the truth in American journalism.

William L. Gensert, American Thinker:  "It is about time those of us on the right took the gloves off and stopped trying to be better than the left."

Fat chance of that ever happening.  William's alternative to being "better than the left?"  Violence.  Of course, William weakly denies that, but his whole article reeks with the love of violence.

"I have self-trained to use an edged weapon, and fought in the 1976 Golden Gloves...I haven’t thrown a punch in anger since long before the beginning of this century. I carried a Beretta 92FC 9 mm or a Walther PPK 380 semi-automatic pistol for longer than a decade in the Bronx...college. I had fistfights on the main drag and the only reason I survived was I won...it is about time those of us on the right took the gloves off...Republicans have always played the game with civility...To not fight, to be gentlemen and to prosecute this battle with decorum and a sense of fairness to the Democrats is a surefire loss...It’s time to get your hands dirty with the blood of our enemies...We on the right are America and we need to stand up and fight to ensure this country remains freedom’s safest place. Donald Trump is with us. I’m in, where do you stand?"

I guess you get the idea.  Why, no, no, NO, William is not calling for violence!  He'd never do that, now, would he?

Before It's News:  "Massive PizzaGate Arrests...Conducted by the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes against Children task force, “Operation Broken Heart III” targeted offenders wanted for the sexual exploitation of children, child prostitution, sex tourism and possessing and distributing child pornography."

See, these are "Pizzagate" arrests.  Remember Pizzagate?  That was the right wing smear that Hillary Clinton ran a child sex ring.  So here it comes again- Hillary is apparently responsible for every incident of child sexual abuse in the entire country.

Before It's News:  "Weaponized Cell Towers Are Directly Related to Why Chemtrails Are Sprayed"

Weaponized cell towers?  Maybe like this?

Man, now I am scared.

"If you remember nothing else about all of this technology, remember this: Be afraid. Be very, very, afraid."

Okay, already.  I'm afraid.  Of you.

Before It's News:  "Did you know that there exists an ancient book that contains a secret that had been hidden for over 4,000 years? "

The Necronomicon?  Anyway, let's just move on to this exciting news:

Before It's News:  "Inner Earth Kingdom Ambassador to Speak Publicly in New York"

Yes, we are about to be addressed by the ambassador from people who live inside the earth.  I hope she brings lunch.

Enough, already.  Idiocy like this is paving this country's road to hell.  It's only one step from this sort of thing to the malicious lies Trump tells every day.

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review Online:  "The Fracking Industry Deserves Our Gratitude"

It deserves your gratitude, Victor, because you get paid to tell its lies.  As for the rest of us, not so much.

Marc A. Levin, National Review Online:  "Conservatives Have a Stake in Bail Reform"

Well, they sure do if the government ever decides to start trying the real criminals in our society.

Aaron Klein, Breitbart:  "CNN Fueled the Discredited ‘Peeing Russia Prostitutes’ Anti-Trump Dossier...CNN played a critical role in originally publicizing the existence of a 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump that would later become largely discredited."

Well, discredited except for the fact that it came from the former head of Russian intelligence at MI5, and was confirmed by two other sources found by our intelligence services.  CNN "fueled" this story by reporting compelling evidence that our President is a pervert- something that is obviously not true because Republicans don't want it to be.

Dan Riehl, Breitbart:  "New Heartland Institute President Tim Huelskamp Wants to Drain Swamp of Environmental Bureaucrats"

Think that could have anything to do with the Heartland Institute being a creation of the Koch brothers?  Nah, must be some other reason.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "VIDEO=> POLISH CROWDS CHEER as President Trump and First Lady Melania Arrive in Warsaw"

The crowds were bussed in because Trump refused to appear unless the right wing Polish government provided the cheering throng.  Jim forgot to mention that.  And while we are looking at Jim's coverage of Trump's little jaunt, let's not pass this up:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "POTUS TRUMP Slams Obama in Poland Over Russia Election Interference "

Yes, he slams Obama! Over something that Vladimir Putin did! And that Trump's own campaign helped with every way they could!  But Trump blames Obama!  Well, what else do you expect?

Enough for today.  See you later.

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

Let's just get this damned clear right now.  If Trump were not guilty of collusion with the Russians to take over the Presidency, i.e. the worst act of treason in the history of the United States, he would want nothing more than to have the truth revealed.  His collusion with Putin this weekend to try to shut down the interest in a revelation of the facts, after all the other information we've had the last half year or so, is clearly evidence that he knows he is guilty.  This is evidence beyond any sort of reasonable doubt by any reasonable person.

He is guilty.  He is a traitor.  He is the worst criminal in the history of the government.

Anyone who doesn't believe that at this point is a fool.

The Art of the Cave

So in the end, the real interest of the world was not, surprisingly enough, on whether John Podesta refused to give some e-mails to the government which were not in his possession*, but exactly how Donald Trump, as President, would stand up to the man who all of our intelligence agencies say was responsible for massively interfering with the integrity of our election process, putting a corrupt, stupid tool (that would be Trump himself) in the White House instead of the massively experienced, honest, serious public servant who should be there.

I guess we should have gotten a sign of how that was going to go, the day before the much-heralded meeting between Trump and Putin, when Trump pretty much preempted taking a strong stand about this near act of war, by declaring against the determination of all of the American experts, that there was no reason to believe Russia was behind the treachery in his favor in the recent election.

Well, they met.

I saw a little of this (very little, thank heaven) as it happened, and let me tell you what I observed, which is not entirely obvious from this still image.  Trump is sitting there like a little child in Church, with his hands between his legs, and sort of hunched over, radiating the fact that he is a passive observer at an event where he is forced to be present and doesn't really understand.  Putin, on the other hand, looked both bored and vaguely annoyed by having to participate in this meaningless dog and pony show, when he knew damned well that he had already made sure that he got his way.

And get his way he did.  Our observer at this event, Rex Tillerson, had nothing of substance to say about the issue of Russian interference in our election, while the Russian observer promptly went in front of the cameras, and announced that it had been decided to leave the entire issue of Russia's attack and Trump's treason in the past, and move on, presumably to lucrative deals for rich guys in both countries, which could now take place in the near future.

There are two readings that one could take away from this meeting.  First, that the man who proclaims himself to be the World's Greatest Negotiator is, in fact, virtually the worst negotiator ever, who just gave away every single bargaining chip he had against this powerful adversary, for nothing in return.

Fair enough; you don't start out in life as a rich guy and then go bankrupt six times without being a pretty worthless businessman.  But there is another far more malignant interpretation of this meeting. It is equally possible, perhaps even far more likely, that Trump was bargaining for no one but himself. In this scenario, Trump sold out (one more time) the entire country that trusted him with its leadership, to cover up for a little while longer the dirty dealing that put him in charge; that avoiding a personal humiliation is more important to him than the security of the entire country.

Well, I'll leave you to decide that one on your own, but I cannot leave this subject without saying something about the results of Trump's behavior.  Look at this picture from the G20 summit:

This was taken immediately after one of the summit sessions, and shows the leaders of the rest of the world discussing issues among themselves, with absolutely no interest in any input from Trump.  Yes, in six months, Trump has destroyed our country's century long role as the leader of the free world, and given us an irrational, irrelevant government that must be excluded as far as possible from any meaningful role in guiding the future of the world.

And still, 95% of Trump's followers think he is the greatest President ever, and the rest of his party, who may not be as stupid as him, but are just as corrupt, show no interest in dealing with the catastrophe they have generated, until he succeeds in helping them strip our country of all of its value. I know I've said this before, but we are fucked.

*That's what Trump claimed, anyway:

“Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA. Disgraceful!”

Yes, the attention of the whole world was absorbed with why Podesta, who just to be clear, was not on the DNC, didn't turn a few e-mails over to the Republican witch hunt.  That's what they are all concerned with, while they are disinterested in a potential nuclear war with North Korea, the sabotage of world-wide climate action, or the takeover of the world's leading military power by a traitor.

The Dumbest Fucking Thing Any Human Ever Said In All Of History

Our Secretary of Energy, former governor of Texas and Republican Presidential front-runner, Rick Perry:

“Here's a little economics lesson: supply and demand,” he said. “You put the supply out there, and demand will follow.”

The demand for terminal stupidity is about to take a huge jump.

Why I Don't Subscribe to the New York Times Any More

Read this, from Daily Kos.

Just one tiny little example.

North Korea Again

Okay, it is apparently time once again for me to point out the truth about North Korea's belligerent posturing that should be obvious to people with even the most shallow knowledge of the way things work.

North Korea is a military dictatorship, and what's more, a very poor one that devotes an obscene portion of its revenue to its military.  Now, anyone who knows a thing about military dictatorships knows that most of that money ends up in the pockets of the generals, who are the actual rulers of their country, not some bumbling thirty year old nitwit.

Do you think these generals would really leave the security of their racket in the hands of this buffoon? No, it is completely obvious that Kim Jong Un has one role and one role only to play in his country's rule, and that is to keep the populace so frightened of foreign attack that they tolerate being reduced to poverty so the generals can have all the money.  These generals, however, enjoy being able to grow rich from this arrangement, and if there is one thing they know it is that, if they start a real war with the United States, every one of them will be killed, and that will be the end of the good life for them.

The obvious conclusion from all of this is that Kim's bellicose talk is, like most of Donald Trump's bluster, intended for internal consumption only.  He knows perfectly well what would happen if North Korea launches a missile toward the United States, and presumably he would rather live than die.  Other Presidents, and other world leaders, have recognized this fact, so while Kim's belligerence has often required them to reply, they have been careful to pretty much let him rave away, which is really the adult way to handle him.  Not so for our idiot leader Trump, who could actually end up in a vicious war in which millions of South Korean and Japanese citizens are potential victims, all because he is too stupid and hostile to be able to comprehend the nature of even this relatively simple problem.

Twitter

From the very first time I heard of Twitter I thought it was an abominable thing, because its 140 character limit is suitable for nothing but sound bites, and it essentially eliminates the possibility of any sort of real analysis of anything; in other words, it plays right into the Republican party's strength.  I have, consequently, refused to have anything to do with it, and believed that every decent person should have spoken out against its use as a tool of political propaganda.

Well, with Trump's tweets of the last few days, including the new one showing Trump beating a man who seems to have a CNN logo for a head, I think my position, in which I have been almost alone, has been pretty well demonstrated to be true.  Twitter is responsible in very significant part for the deterioration of our political discourse from its formerly miserable state into the ugly screamfest it has now become, and the chief beneficiary is the single person who cares the least about what damage he does using it.

It is time to openly recognize that the use of Twitter for political comments is very likely to identify the user as a shallow minded manipulator.  Oh, we may see the occasional clever remark from some Twitter user on the left, but it is like throwing a rock at somebody shooting at you with a machine gun.  Twitter has become what it inevitably was destined to be: a tool to manipulate the most shallow minded, unthinking people among us.  To stoop to having anything to do with it is to essentially license its use as a propaganda tool.

Packing On the Pounds, Hey, Trumpy?

A recent picture of Trump.  What do you think you are looking at here, given that he is about 6'-2" tall?  325? 350?  The guy is as physically out of control as he is mentally out of control.  Oh well, the more pounds he packs on, the more likely it is that he will destroy himself.  His mental problems will only destroy others.  Sort of makes you sad to see the end of this, huh?
Well, like I say, we can always hope for a heart attack or a stroke.

At Least They Will Destroy Themselves More

I guess it is worthwhile to keep our eyes on what is going to happen to our country when the effects of the corrupt Republican refusal to acknowledge the damage caused by climate change really takes place.  Here's a county by county map of the degradation to gdp that will happen by 2080 or so:

I'm not sure there is much satisfaction to be taken by this fact, but the damage is going to be overwhelmingly concentrated, as you can see, in the red States that support Republicans.

Unfortunately, as informed people already know, the Republican States only exist by sucking the earnings out of the blue States.  So, in fifty years or so, the belligerent, stupid, greedy right wingers that fill these States will have even more motive to engage in violence to take away what the rest of us have earned.

Just one more reason why I believe that this century is going to see the end of the United States as a single entity, brought down not by terrorists or illegal immigrants, but by people screaming about patriotism at the top of their voices.  It's only a couple of decades from now when we reach a point where the hate and greed of right wingers will doom this country to a bloody extinction, after which, God willing, the people left in the sane areas have the sense to blow these subhuman monsters to kingdom come.

Here's a sample from the article:

"In a new study in the journal Science, researchers analyzed the economic harm that climate change could inflict on the United States in the coming century. They found that the impacts could prove highly unequal: states in the Northeast and West would fare relatively well, while parts of the Midwest and Southeast would be especially hard hit."

You can read the rest here.
