Wingnut Wrapup

And let's just get going with perhaps the most colossally stupid conspiracy theory the right has ever come up with- if it can even be called that, it is so lacking in a shred of sense:

Eric Owens, Daily Caller:  "Obama’s Fancy New Mansion Is Located 1,000 Feet From The Islamic Center Of Washington DC...The mammoth, multi-million-dollar mansion where President Barack Obama and his family will reportedly live after the first family exits the White House is located 1,096 feet from the Islamic Center of Washington — one of the largest mosques in the Western Hemisphere."

And?  What exactly is that supposed to prove?  Well, maybe it's an excuse to bring this up:

"Both Obama’s new digs and the Islamic Center are located in the fancypants northwest Washington, D.C. neighborhood of Kalorama."

It is an abomination that a former President of the United States should live in a "fancypants" neighborhood, because...well, you know.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "Freedom Is Slavery: Hawaii Could Be First State To Enter Its Gun Owners Into A Federal Database"

Having the government know that you own a gun is slavery.  That's a new definition for me.  They are allowed to know you have a car, but not a gun.  If they know that, it's just like being forced to work in the cotton fields for no pay, for the rest of your life.  See, whites today have it just as bad as black people did in 1850.  That's why they are so mad about everything these days.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "House Oversight Committee Refers Failed Oregon Obamacare Exchange to DOJ For Criminal Investigation"

Expect to see another one of these phony scandals every week or so, from now to the election. Obamacare has given health care to nearly 20 million people, reduced the uninsured rate to below 10% for the first time in decades, and severely cut the growth of health care costs.  It's a Democratic bill.  Why do you think Republicans have tried to destroy it since the day it passed?

Streiff, Red State:  "Elizabeth Warren Attack Donald Trump. The Left Goes Orgasmic."

If, by orgasmic, Streiff means they reported on her speech, okay then.  You really want to see orgasmic, look at how all the Republicans that hated Trump a month ago can't wait to get in bed with him now.

Joe Cunningham, Red State:  "Donald Trump’s Strategy Against The Clintons Isn’t Terrible"

At this point, as Joe freely admits, Trump's strategy against Clinton consists of telling as many filthy lies about them as he can, as fast as possible, and repeating them over and over again:

"It’s not a terrible strategy. Will it produces good results? Maybe. Some, at least. Is it a winning strategy? Who knows? What we do know is that Trump is probably not going to win a policy fight against Clinton. He has flipped on virtually every policy he’s touted. But, he can out mud-sling the Clintons. And he will."

I.e. the standard Republican strategy in every election.  I guess that isn't "terrible" if you don't give a God damn about what happens to this country.  And they don't:

"Here’s to the downfall of America. At least we’ll be entertained."

The truth.  They're not even trying to hide it any more.  That's how convinced they are that the American people are just about ready to jettison democracy for fascism.  Nice bunch of guys.

Bryan Pruitt, Red State:  "Carly Confirms for the RedState Gathering!  Yep, you heard it here first! One of the rockstars of last year’s RedState Gathering in Atlanta is joining us again in Denver this August."

Don't be so proud, Bryan.  If she thought she could get someone to listen to her, she'd show up at Southern California Corgi Beach Day.

Tyler O'Neil, PJ Media:  "Hitler's Pope and 9 Other Anti-Catholic Myths Disproven By History...How the Catholic Church gave birth to capitalism, fought witch hunts, abolished slavery, and helped the Jews."

Well, I sure got a chuckle out of that one.  Of course, it is perfectly okay for these guys to say that the current Pope is a Communist.  Yes, this is what terminal brain deterioration looks like.

Michael Bresciani, Renew America:  "A time for the president and the liberals to hang their heads in shame"

Because of Trump, of course.  It's all Obama's fault.

And, of course, it never stops:

Rev. Austin Miles, Renew America:  "Obama--present day Emperor Norton...This entire history brings to mind the present occupier of the White House, Barack Hussein Obama. He too is a pretender who appeared to come out of nowhere, while protected by incredible security that has hidden his place of birth, college records and kept secret every facet of his early life."

For those who don't know, Emperor Norton was a guy in San Francisco who walked around in an elaborate uniform and declared himself to be the emperor of the United States.  Just like Obama.  Of course, Obama got 69 million votes to put him where he is.  Norton got none, but that was not important enough to bring up in the Reverend's article.

Washington Times:  "Facebook admits rogue employees may have shown bias against conservatives"

And so fucking what?  I mean really.  Since when is showing "bias" against a pack of paid liars trying to shove a dictatorship down our throats a bad thing?

World Net Daily:  "Noah's flood upends entire evolutionary doctrine"

The earth being on the back of a giant turtle upends the round-earth doctrine too.

James Lewis, American Thinker:  "...is Trump nasty enough?"

I'll leave that for you to decide.

"At some point, if he succeeds, he will need a lot of support from people who share the same basic values."

Yeah.  Like these guys

Daniel Sobieski, American Thinker:  "Chelsea and Hillary Dance on Scalia's Grave"

Name the time and place, Hillary, and Green Eagle will join in too.

Philip K. Chapman, American Thinker:  "How the Electoral College Can Save America"

By refusing to cast their votes for Hillary, letting the presumably Republican House of Representatives pick the next President, thus creating the second Republican President in a row to be forced on us by the Republican party.  Boy, that's the way to save America, alright- to save it for consumption later by the Koch brothers.

And along the same lines, just more blunt because it's somewhere else:

Selwyn Duke, American Thinker:  "Venezuela Needs a Military Coup"

We just can't always be that blunt when we talk about what we really want here at home, can we?

And now, the Grand Lie Of The Day:

Breitbart News:  "Hillary Clinton Releases Plan to Dissolve U.S. Border Within 100 Days...Republicans who are willing to thwart Trump in favor of Clinton will be complicit in electing a President who would seek to bring about the complete and, possibly irreversible, dissolution of our nation’s borders."

Right.  Let's see how far they get with that one.  Clearly all the brakes are off now, and any lie is okay, no matter how idiotic.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Listen: Tom Cotton Goes on Epic Rant Against Harry Reid"

Oh wait...I think that might be the wrong video.  Whatever.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "MSNBC’s Brzezinski On Clinton Email Fiasco: ‘It Feels Like She’s Lying Straight Out’"

"It feels" like she is lying.  Not a shred of evidence that she is, of course, but the fact that it allegedly feels like it to a cheesy news bimbo deserves national coverage.  Of course, it more than "feels" like Trump is lying; he lies every time he opens his mouth.  But that's okay, because he's a Republican, and they're allowed to do that.  And that, as they say, is why we can't have good things in this country.

And, a new height in delusion?

Michael Walsh, PJ Media:  "After Hillary Drops Out... What?"

Yeah, what?  Michael seems to think that the latest nothing about Hillary's e-mails is going to make her quit the Presidential race.  The evidence?

"The Democratic National Committee is considering a plan to re-insert Vice President Joe Biden into the presidential race, Donald Trump said Wednesday in California, a stunning claim on a day when front-runner Hillary Clinton faced new questions about her classified email scandal.

'I hear they're gonna actually slip Joe Biden in and he's going to take Bernie's place,' Trump told a rally audience of thousands in Anaheim, California"

Oh, I see, Donald Trump said so.  And I mean, he is the first person the DNC would be likely to tell, right?  And he would never make something like this up, so we can believe every word of it.

Daily Caller:  "These 19 Celebrities Have The Best Butts In Hollywood [SLIDESHOW]'

Funny, you never see stories like this at Daily Kos or Crooks and Liars.

Jay Caruso, Red State:  "Stop Excusing Republicans Like Rubio For Supporting Trump Because Of A Stupid, Worthless Pledge"

Truth?  Honesty?  Keeping your word?  Man, those things are so Democratic.

“How the Catholic Church ... abolished slavery”

Abolished it in the United States?
I thought it had something to do with roughly a million people dead - soldier and civilian –in a civil war fought over the ownership of human beings.
Silly me.

O’Neil is alluding to a book written by someone called Rodney Stark, and also contends the Spanish Inquisition wasn’t all that bad.
(No of course not... they just organised quiet walks by the river and held bingo nights).

Stark: “religious couples even have more satisfactory sex lives!”
....as empirically proven by the personal prejudices of an 81 year old professor of comparative religion.

You're also liable to see more ads from very shady companies from on conservative media; look where Goldline and Texas Superfood pitch their product. This Rick Perlstein article notes a big difference between appeals to liberals and appeals to conservatives.

If you made it through all the right-wing drivel, it's time for a reward. On May 29, 1913, Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps made its debut in Paris, causing a riot. Here's a 1929 recording of the ballet, conducted by the composer. Stravinsky also comments on the work here.

While we're at it, I'll also link to Stravinsky conducting his Firebird.

The right wing media are basically nothing but one gigantic grift, with a million little grifts along for the ride. That goes for The Christian right too. It's all about soaking the suckers for money, and if it leads to a fascist slave state in the process, well, you can't make an omelette, and all that.
