Obama's Foreign Policy Fails Again

Just ask Dick Cheney.  I mean, who better to explain to us the nature of foreign policy failure?

"Former Vice President Dick Cheney blasted President Obama as the weakest president of his lifetime on Wednesday, following the president’s speech defending his foreign policy approach at the West Point commencement ceremony.

“He is a very, very weak president,” Cheney said in an interview with Fox News. “Maybe the weakest — certainly in my lifetime.”

Cheney went on to say that during a recent trip to the Middle East, allies he had “dealt with all the way back to Desert Storm” expressed alarm at the president’s handling of foreign policy."

Not that he was able to name any.  And of course they told him what he wanted to hear.  They were afraid he would shoot them in the face.

“They all are absolutely convinced that the American capacity to lead and influence in that part of the world has been dramatically reduced by this president,” Cheney said. “We’ve got a problem with weakness, and it’s centered right in the White House.”

It didn't reduce what Cheney laughably calls "the American capacity to lead and influence in that part of the world" when he and his buddy George invaded an innocent country, in the process turning it over to a Shiite theocracy.  No, there is nothing like a few hundred thousand meaningless deaths at our hands to convince people in the Middle East to let us "lead and influence" them.

So coincidentally, here's a story you won't hear much about, demonstrating Obama's lack of influence in the Middle East:

"Iran has neutralized most of its stockpile of higher-grade enriched uranium that could be turned quickly into the core of a nuclear weapon, the U.N. nuclear agency said Friday, leaving the country with only about a fifth of what it would need for such a purpose.

The report...said Tehran was meeting all other obligations under an agreement reached four months ago in Geneva that serves as a prelude to a comprehensive deal now being negotiated."

Obama's "weakness"  (i.e. sanity) is accomplishing what all the Dick Cheney warmongering and belligerence never could:  convince the Iranians that our government is not in the hands of out of control fanatics.

Funny how countries are so much more likely to cooperate with us when we don't act like violent maniacs who are just looking for an excuse to attack them.  But of course, that is "weakness," and it must be condemned, regardless of whether or not it leads to a safer world.

And by the way, what a sad country we live in where I had to learn about this United Nations report from Al Jazeera, because our press just isn't interested in it.
