You Knew It Was Coming

In my daily search for wingnut idiocy I have been a little surprised about the virtually total ignoring of the Sikh shooting.  I wonder why that might be.  Now, finally, the dam is starting to break, and the result,  from Bryan Fischer, one of the Catholic Church's most disgusting defenders, should surprise nobody:

"Fundamentalist Christian radio host Bryan Fischer says that the white supremacist who massacred six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin must have been a liberal...On his Tuesday American Family Association radio show, Fisher said that Wade Michael Page could not be connected to the tea party because he had threatened to leave the country if (Herman) Cain was elected president."

It's been some time since I have talked about one of the most constant characteristics of the American right- their absolute incapacity to take responsibility for the negative results of anything they do.  And of course, since their actions are based on a hate-filled and ludicrous mangling of history, virtually everything they do, from Iraq to the economy to dealing with global warming, and on and on, does end disastrously.

After over forty years of following them, I don't think I can name a single thing which is so absolutely universal among them.  So, it's inevitable that, confronted with a mass murder committed by a far-right Aryan supremacist who was egged on by years of anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim hatred from every corner of the right wing noise machine, they would simply declare that this jackass is really a liberal.  We've seen this over and over again, the supreme example being their malignant insistence that the Nazis were really liberals (yes, Mr. Fischer goes there again,) and we will be seeing more of it, now that Bryan Fischer has broken the ice.  Not surprising, but still very painful.

They haven't said anything because he was one of them.

Why does the word 'white supremacist' automatically rhyme with right wing? Wasn't there white supremacists and KKK members in the Democratic party? Wasn't Hitler a white supremacist? So why do you and he have one word in common: 'socialism?'
