Teabaggers Collapsing Again?

Those of you who who enjoy keeping an eye on the teabag "movement," as Green Eagle does, may remember my report about the miserable failure of their national strike a week ago. Now their grand teabag convention, to be headlined headlined by the ever-altruistic Sarah Palin, for a measly $125,000 or so, seems to be in running into trouble. Today, the Republican dream girl, Michelle Bachmann, announced that she is pulling out of her scheduled appearance at the event. What was the last time you saw Michelle Bachmann turn her back on a chance to humiliate herself in public?

It has long been my belief that the teabag movement is nothing but an artificial creation, sustained by corporate money and free promotion on Fox News and the right wing blogs, and made to appear significant only through a perpetual, and vast, exaggeration of the level of participation. Yet as long as the money to promote it is there, the illusion will be maintained, and of course, our mainstream press will fall for it.

Our local online news source, Quincy News.Org is actively promoting tea bagger stuff. Don't go there GE. This isn't to promote them. It's simply validating your point that tea baggers are promoted by right wing bloggers.

And right wing money- lots of it, and right wing news outlets. Truth, I was deeply involved in the Vietnam protests, and I think I know what a real grassroots movement looks like. After the five tea parties I have attended, I don't believe that's what I have seen there.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
